Turkey

It's semester break so me and two other TA friends, Dan and Harriett, decided to visit Turkey. We first went to Istanbul, then Cappadocia (a small city/National Park in Central Turkey known for the fairy chimneys and underground cities) and lastly the city of Antalya on the water, which is apparently the 3rd most visited city in the world.  Turkey definitely goes down as one of the top three countries I’ve ever visited.  It’s pretty inexpensive, with wonderful, friendly hospitality among the people and visitors.  Even though all the cities we visited were westernized, there was still so much diversity while also having a taste of the eastern ways of life.  I miss hearing the unforgettable Muslim call-to-prayer 5 times a day (even though there’s no declared religion.)

I'd definitely recommend Turkey to anyone traveling to Europe/Asia.  I'm looking forward to going back again when it's warm!

France/Lake Geneva

Last weekend I went with my French room mate and Austrian friend to Geneva, Switzerland to visit her dad and boyfriend who work at a hotel there.  We got to see Lake Geneva, Annecy (France) and last but not least, Chamonix, a gorgeous, well-known posh ski town that's home to Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe.
